Creation, The True Story

We seem to get stuck right in the beginning. We seem to fixate ourselves on this one word, "day". My Life Application Study Bible, NASB states Genesis purpose like this, "To record God's creation of the world and his desire to have people set apart to worship him" (Page 2). Now, the theologian in me goes crazy here. If we do not take the Word as absolute truth then what good is the rest of the Word. The word day is used. In our earthly understanding, that is a 24 hour period. I have no doubt that God could create in 24 hour time frames. I have no doubt. This is the God that in John 2 turns water into wine almost instantly. All they had to do was have faith and obey and go get water and it came out wine. This proves that our God is beyond our human understanding and can speed the creation process to be instant. But I will never push this theology over salvation.

I will be getting my masters in theology so read this closely. I love theology. I think it is important. But when you allow theology to trip a person from salvation (not to salvation) that is when you are simply being a theologian and not a witness. When you push the theology of 24 hour creation days over Jesus on the cross to where it makes the person stumble more... I have a problem with that. Here is a fact. I don't care if it was 24 hour creation days or if the word "day" is longer than 24 hours. What I care about is that my God, The Creator, created. He created us even though He knew He would die for us. And that is when my child like faith trumps the theologian in me EVERY TIME. Praying I never lose it.

When we push the 24 hour so much that we overlook the truly amazing miracle in this... that God created even though He knew He would have to come and die for us. He still created us even though He knew we would sin, even though He knew we would cheat on Him, even though He knew some would reject Him. Even though He would take the nails and hang on a cross. HE STILL CREATED US. That makes me not care about the time period that He took to create but it makes me absolutely fall in love with my Savior all over again! The Creator created... even though He would have to save us.

When we sit there and discuss the theology so much and debate on who is right about the word "day", we are ignoring the true work that was done here. God created. He created to have us. Even though He would have to leave His glory to come save us. I don't remember Scripture ever talking about Christ ever taking the time to discuss if the word "day" in Genesis was 24 hours. I do remember Christ's focus was on salvation. I also know from a personal perspective, it took me time to understand everything Christ is and I don't think I even understand it fully yet. I don't think I will until I am before Him. My human mind cannot grasp Him for everything He is... He is too Big for my understanding. But I can accept a lot more about Him now after being shown His love and Grace. Because everyday, I watch my God move mountains. I watch Him in the smile of my girls and I see Him in the hope after losing a son. Our God cannot be limited. That is the power of creation.

Share the true creation story. That God created even though He knew He would die to save us.... That He Rose Victoriously! Because OUR GOD CANNOT BE LIMITED.
