"If it put me (Jesus) on the Cross, It is NOT funny".

"If it put me (Jesus) on the cross, it is not funny."

"IF it put Him on the cross, it is not funny" was on the video of session 2 of the study of Nehemiah by Kelly Minter. And my world stopped.

If you know anything about me, you know I love to laugh. Laughing is medicine for the soul! But so many times we seek cheap laughs. Laughs from stupid shows, laughs from stupid games, laughs about stupid stuff. And in tonight's video session came the one line that I think will forever be with me. "If it put me on the cross, it is not funny". I can hear Jesus saying it to me. I can feel pain in my hands where His nails would have been... "If it put me on the cross, it is not funny". 

We are called to live a Holy life. Many do not even try because we won't accomplish it here on Earth. But the God who loves us calls us to try with everything we have to live for Him because He is jealous for us. He wants us. So many times we are often looking for someone to love us, to want us, to want to spend time with us. Yet, He was always there and we just kept looking because of the separation between us. We are (were) covered with sin and He is Holy! But when we repent He takes the sin and casts it as far as the east is from the west but yet we still sit here and fill our minds with entertainment that displays the very things that put Him on the cross. 

This is going to be short because I am still crushed from it! How did I not see it like this before! When I am sitting here enjoying a tv show that has pre-marital or extra-marital sex in it or any other sin, why do I sit here and laugh..... because these are the types of actions that put our God on the cross?! Why would I ever find that funny? Why is that okay?

 It is not okay! Brothers and sisters, it is not okay! 

So,I will leave you with scripture! I would love to hear from you on your thoughts on this statement of "if it put me on the cross, it is not funny!" I would love to hear what it made you give up! For me, a card game we play came to my mind immediately. 

1 Peter 2:9 states, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." 

We are called to be a holy nation and we cannot find humor in what led our savior to the cross... HE is Worthy of more!
