Salvation Before Politics

He took up the cross on a Friday. But I've always been a little attached to the Thursday before the cross. Our Savior knew His time was coming. He knew the pain that would be coming and in His fear He did not run. He knew one of His friends was going to betray him and He still washed this man's feet (John 13). He still served a man that He knew was going/did turn on Him. This speaks volumes to me about how Christ's followers should serve. We need to "wash the feet" of the enemy. We have to remember that even though Judas Iscariot was the betrayer... Jesus chose him to be a disciple.

All the disciples could not understand why Jesus kept talking about death. Wasn't the Messiah going to be the King and finally save Israel and put all things in order for the nation? Some suggest that Judas just wanted money and he sold out. But part of me believes that Judas was just trying to push Jesus so that his political order would come about more quickly. He tried giving the money back when things weren't going as plan and now his King, the one who would rule over all Israel, was heading to a cross because he didn't understand the way of true salvation. This is also a reminder to us that Jesus doesn't care more about political order than He does salvation. He always puts Salvation First.

Today, it seems that Bible following American's want to push our belief on everyone else. I've been guilty of this on many accounts. But above all the people in the world who wants people to live Biblically? God. God wants all people to live Biblically too and more than anybody in this world! But He doesn't push a political agenda to get this done. He served. He died. He sacrificed. He saved.

He could have ruled and put all the world under His reign. He could have put all things right. But HE Didn't. He Died. He chose to die because we needed Him to! But the joy is that death had no hold on our Lord. He rose!!!!!!!!! He is Alive. God is NOT Dead!

So, why then do we Christians still try to push Him to make His Kingdom come faster. Why do we assume that we HAVE to force the millions to accept his rules without accepting Him? Because we lack the attitude of salvation before politics. Jesus' way is salvation before politics. Ours should too!

Salvation BEFORE politics. Start serving. Start sacrificing. Start picking up your cross and follow Him.
